How do you say Quidi Vidi?

Here is the lovely Quidi Vidi Lake where a regatta is held every August, (Hmmm. I seem to have an August fixation here.) although this picture was not taken in August, I swear.

It also has an excellent 3.8 km (2.4 mile) walking trail around the permimeter and lots of ducks of various types to feed. As well as two geese, one white and one Canada.

So here's a test for everyone. How does one prounounce "Quidi Vidi?"

Well, I tried to cheat via Google but the only website that looked like it might have an answer said this to me:

"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e07'

Syntax error converting the varchar value 'S' to a column of data type int.

/stjohns.asp, line 11"

So... Kwee Vee?

*the above comment is utter, utter piffle*

I would say kidividi. But as it looks like latin ( quid vidi means those wich I saw) maybe it should pronounce like in latin, kwidi vidi.( 5 years of latin in catholic highschool). But maybe I'm totally wrong... You can also say that one pronounces preferably with the mouth! MWAHAHAHAHA!. MMM Bad Merlinprincesse...

Ah, ah, ah, Ricaripus! Cheetahs never prosper!

Well, tough to pick a winner from that overwhelming response :-) but merlinprincesse guessed correctly. Or at least closest. It's most commonly prounounced Kiddi Viddi (short 'i's'), but a small group of locals do say Kwida Vida (long 'i's'). Not sure if it's the Latin influence or not.

Stay tuned for another FABulous, SCINtillating quiz on local lore. (Gad, now I've done it!)

It is pronounced 'Kiddi Viddi'. Pronouncing it with a "kwa-" sound at the beginning is entirely incorrect and shows a lack of regard for proper latin pronunciation. Pronouncing it "Kwie-dah Vie-dah" is just plain rediculous.
