I've been tagged!

By Debi. What have I ever done to her?

Seven Random Things About Me

1. I have been to Pompeii.

2. My paternal grandmother was a Liverpudlian. If you want to see a movie of her life, watch "A Little Princess." It was just like that. But without the magic. Or the dad actually being alive. Or being rescued from a childhood of drudgery in a boarding school kitchen before being thrown out on the street at age 16 with no life skills, like BEING ABLE TO READ. But man, could she clean. She deserved better.

3. I feel like I have aged 20 years in the last two. Being in constant pain and having your mobility restricted and your balance affected will do that to you. Luckily, I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. With regards one condition anyway. I fear the other is here to stay but I can handle that. As a corollary, I have proven that one does not die of loneliness. However, I still don't recommend it.

4. I can cram entire oratorios into my head. Okay, just the alto part, but still. WHO KNEW?

5. Cats will continue to love you whether you can walk long distances or not. As long as you can make it to the cupboard and to the food dish, you're in.

6. I MUST own a camera.

7. Number 3 above has made me fear old age the way Scrooge fears the Ghost of Christmas Yet-to-Come.

Okay, who shall I tag? YOU'RE ALL TAGGED! YES! I TAG THE ENTIRE INTERNET.

interesting, I did not know you were in pain all this time? and I can't think of anything interesting or mundane about myself. lol

We just went through this exercise in doing family history for my son's class. We had to think of 10 interesting things from our family history. I thought we'd be able to come up with ten times that amount but we struggled to come up with even five. CRAZY, hey

Only when I move. Y'know. And it took a visit from an old friend to point out to me that it wasn't normal and I should get it checked.

Crazy, indeed. I had trouble with the 7, then thought of several more.

But that's for another post.

I'm sorry to hear about the chronic pain. Is it some kind of arthritis or should I ask?

About loneliness - sometimes being with someone can be lonelier than being alone. I've been there, too. Hope things get better.

TAGGED!!!!!!!!!Blasted teenagers and their lack of respect of other peoples property.!!!!!!!! Hangings to good for them!!!!!!!!!

1. I also have been to Pompeii.
2. My paternal g'mother was dutch as was hers and hers etc. I can trace this back to about 1600.
My direct familial line however ends with me as I am the last apart from my father who is very old.
3 I have aged 10 years in the last 35. The childishness must come to an end one day when I fracture my hips falling off my stilts whilst attempting to juggle angry badgers.
4. I have deformed feet thanks to a motorcycle accident nearly 25 years ago
5. Cats are the coolest furry death dealing creature in teh entire universe. I still miss mine terribly after 7 years.
6. I haven't driven a car in 4 years. I hate driving and I really suck at it so no great loss there then.
7. I don't celebrate birthdays, xmas, easter or any other organized holiday. This has saved me a fortune over the years.

Anyway thats enough about me.

Most sorry to hear about the chronic pain.

3. I constantly look younger than my age. Really. Yup. Um-hum. Er...

5. Cats are teh devilnesssness. And they make my wife sneeze.

6. I must also own a camera and actually carry one with me at (almost) all times now.

7. Wonderferret is The Scrooge. A very, very, curmudgeonly and grumpy Scrooge. I admire this in him.

Real answers over at my place...

Sorry about the misleading "constant" description of the pain. It only hurts when I move, which is a darned sight better quality of life than some poor souls endure.

You can certainly ask, Joy. It's a combination of osteoarthritis, which isn't too bad... yet... and plantar faciitis (tendonitis in my feet). I am forbidden to do any amount of weight-bearing excercise until it heals, which has caused me to find myself bearing more weight... which is adding to the strain on the joints. Yay!

It has also resulted in having to bow out of every outing this summer that involves any walking or hiking and thus making it a very lonely summer.

And yes, I'd rather be alone and lonely than lonely in a relationship. Some days I actually find myself laughing with glee because I'm FREE!!! and not being made to feel like a constant annoyance anymore.

LOLZ @ Wonderferret - Gotta love a guy that loves cats.

Oh, Rik. I agree with also being afraid of not getting old, but my worst nightmare is being alone and helpless and at the mercy of the staff at some dreary nursing home. *shudder*

1. I have seen "Up Pompeii".

2. My paternal grandmother used to carry on conversations with the family through the wall. The end wall of her terraced house.

3. I'm still 14 in my head. It is great.

4. I can cram whole Oreos into my head. Through my mouth, obv.

5. I love cats but Mrs Farty won't have one in the house.

6. I DO own a camera. I should carry it around more.

7. I've forgotten number 3 already...ah, yes. I plan to grow old disgracefully.

1.I am going to Pompeii in January - did y'all like it, or was it disappointing? Sometimes these things look better on the History Channel.

2. I have a new facebook friend!! (waves to Dawn)

3. I have possibly the worst genetic makeup around leading me to be checked for all sorts of cancers at least every 2 years. Hence the being hungry and bad tempered at the moment.

4. I have the lyrics to SO many songs in my head, and can sing quite passably. I blitz my family on SingStar.

5. I have the enviable skill of enjoying my own company.

6. I have a flair for languages and advocate lynching as punishment for bastardisation of grammar or punctuation.

7. I don't suffer fools well. At all.
