No prob! My dad was in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 to 1954, so I probably feel more of a connection than some my age.
Went to a concert tonight in celebration of the 100th year of the Canadian Navy tonight. There's a blog post in that, I can tell you for nothing.
Aha! You've told me this before, although not the years your dad served. You know, us armed forces brats have a way of finding each other, don't we. I can't tell you the number of times I've met someone in RL or online, felt in tune with them, only to discover... military parent(s). Although technically I'm not a navy brat, as Dad retired from active service before I was born, it still affects your upbringing.
Hmm, my negligent father was Air Force...did time in Alert. My oldest sister was born in Whitehorse, and I was almost born in Manitoba. If he had stuck around who knows where we'd be? ;)
Erin, this world needs more Lerts... Soz. The non-sticking-around fathers are everywhere. Interesting, though, that you still have the military in your background. I wonder if Debi does, too?
Also, had he stuck around, you'd be as anal an i-dotter and t-crosser as Kim and I. And you'd have very, very shiny SHOES.
So glad I saw this. I also posted a bit about ANZAC, lovely to see a Canadian post about it. We really must not forget the sacrifices and all we now have because of it.
Actually I just hate war, but still I want to remember it, I am a paradox.
