Wow. I have so many pictures that look just like that. And my Aunt's all had that same fur coat. Must have been in vogue at the time...
Yes, knowing my mother, it would have been the up-to-the-minute fashion at the time. She was a classy, well-dressed broad.
I would get a verbal smack upside the head for calling her a broad, though. :)
I, too, have pictures that are virtually the same. . .right down to the snow and the Chevies in the background! I miss my mom as well. However, rather than the smack on the head if I called her a "broad" my mother would have very convincingly stated (loudly) "Who is this child, does anyone know? I am just taking her to the police to see if they can find to whom she belongs." I still have problems dealing with authority.
